Just received an email about the Salesforce.com Christmas Party 2007 at Clarke Quay! There’s a high chance I will be going there. Hopefully I can get a job over there – Since I have not been too active in my job applications of late. Chances are very slim that I will be working in the financial industry. Anyone of you interested in going?

Salesforce.com invites you to a Winter Wonderland to celebrate another year of record of success – for salesforce.com, our partners and most importantly our customers.

Besides enjoying great food and drinks in a relaxed setting, you’ll get to network with other customers, partners and meet the salesforce.com Singapore team. There are no presentations, just come for a fantastic party!

     Date: Thursday, 6th December 2007
Time: 6:00pm-10:00pm
Venue: Bar Cocoon, The Forbidden City – Clarke Quay (#01-02)

We have been advised by the Singapore Weather Bureau that there is a strong chance of snow and a certain special guest is likely to make an appearance.

For those in the unknown, Salesforce.com is one of the first Software as a Service (SaaS) Customer Relationship Management (CRM) provider. A crude simplified definition of CRM is that it’s an application to maintain and manage the relationships and of the customers in your business. As of now, there’s very few companies that can merge the concept of enterprise software and Web 2.0. SaaS service providers are going to cause some major disruption into legacy enterprise software providers and IT vendors. Even Gartner believes that the price of enterprise software will continue to drop.

Analyst Gartner predicts vendors will find themselves increasingly challenged as IT departments look to reduce software costs as they have done with hardware and services.
In a research note Gartner VP William Snyder said: “Up until now the unique nature of the software market has meant that buyers had very little negotiating power after the initial purchase of a software licence. We expect those dynamics to change considerably over the next five to 10 years giving CIOs and software procurement officers more bargaining power while potentially reducing software vendor profit margins.”

The list of companies that I would want to work for after graduation will definitely include Salesforce.com and Netsuite. I reveal the other companies at a later date since they are not relevant to this post anyway.
